Course Overview:


The Forklift Certification Training course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate Powered Industrial Trucks safely and efficiently in various work environments.


This comprehensive program covers essential safety practices, operational techniques, and regulatory requirements, ensuring that operators are well-equipped to handle forklifts responsibly and in compliance with OSHA standards.


Accurate Safety Compliance's Forklift Certification meets the training requirements for OSHA 29 CFR Materials Handling and Storage 1910.178 Powered Industrial Trucks.


Course Objectives:


  • Understand the types of forklifts and their specific applications.
  • Learn about the principles of safe forklift operation, including load handling and stability.
  • Identify potential hazards associated with forklift operation and how to mitigate them.
  • Familiarize participants with pre-operation inspections and maintenance procedures.
  • Gain knowledge of proper lifting techniques and load management.
  • Develop skills in navigating tight spaces, pedestrian safety, and emergency procedures.


Purpose


The purpose of this Forklift Certification course is to instruct students to be competent operators by assisting the employer in regulatory compliance with employee safety.


The operator will have a clear understanding of the safe operating rules, inspections, and maintenance of Powered Industrial Trucks.


The operator will demonstrate the proficiency to obtain the employers certification to operate the vehicle by learning key areas of skill and performance including:


  • Operating a Powered Industrial Truck
  • Inspection Requirements
  • Safe Work Practices
  • Passing a written exam with a score of at least 80%
  • Demonstrating the ability to safely operate a forklift


Target Audience:


This course is ideal for new forklift operators, employees seeking certification, and supervisors responsible for forklift operation in warehouses, manufacturing, oil and gas, and construction settings.


Duration:


The training lasts one to two hours and includes both classroom instruction and practical, hands-on training.


Certification:


Upon successful completion of the course, Students will receive a Forklift Certification for Powered Industrial Trucks, that contains the name of the operator, the date of the training, the date of the evaluation, and the identity of the person(s) performing the training or evaluation, valid for three years.


The certificate of completion is available for review by employees and their authorized representatives with the students Training Passport.


Training Passport is a digital Training history of a person's Training Records.


Prerequisites:


No prior experience is required, but participants must be at least 18 years old to operate forklifts.


Employees are required to have employer approval.


OSHA Requirements


You are required by OSHA to be trained and evaluated "by persons who have the knowledge, training, and experience to train powered industrial truck operators and evaluate their competence." 1910.178(l)(2)(iii)


"The employer shall ensure that each powered industrial truck operator is competent to operate a powered industrial truck safely" 1910.178(l)(1)(i)


Powered Industrial Trucks are "fork trucks, tractors, platform lift trucks, motorized hand trucks, and other specialized industrial trucks powered by electric motors or internal combustion engines" 1910.178(a)(1)


"Prior to permitting an employee to operate a powered industrial truck (except for training purposes), the employer shall ensure that each operator has successfully completed the training"
