Description

Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT)

Accurate Safety Compliance provides Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) using only National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)-approved devices, ensuring full compliance with Federal regulations.

While both saliva and breath are approved for screening, only breath testing is approved for confirmation, making it the industry standard for workplace alcohol testing.

  • Bring a valid photo ID at the time of testing
  • Do not eat, drink, smoke, or place anything in your mouth 15 minutes prior to the test
  • Follow the technician’s instructions carefully during the test process
  • Provide a complete breath sample as directed by the certified technician

Failure to follow these instructions may delay testing or affect the validity of the results.

Prerequisites

Prerequisites for Breath Alcohol Testing

Before testing can be conducted, the following requirements must be met:

  • Medical Clearance Not Required – Unlike respirator fit testing, no medical exam is necessary prior to a BAT.
  • Photo Identification – Employees must present a valid government-issued photo ID at the time of testing.
  • Observation Period – A 15-minute wait period is required prior to testing to ensure the employee has not smoked, eaten, or consumed any substances that could interfere with the results.
  • Certified Collector – Testing must be administered by a trained and certified BAT Technician using NHTSA-approved equipment.
  • Proper Documentation – A completed Federal Alcohol Testing Form (ATF) must accompany every DOT-regulated test.

Accurate Safety Compliance has you covered from start to finish.
