Key components of a safety contingency plan

• Risk and vulnerability assessment: Identify potential threats and weaknesses that could lead to an emergency, such as natural disasters, cyber-attacks, or supply chain disruptions.
• Prevention and mitigation: Implement measures to prevent or limit the impact of risks, such as safety training, securing a supply chain, or using backup systems.
• Emergency response: Define specific actions to be taken immediately following an incident. This includes clear activation and notification procedures for the emergency response team and external services.
• Recovery and restoration: Outline the steps to restore normal operations after an emergency. This can involve relocating operations, using alternate equipment, or recovering lost data from backups.

• Essential resources and supplies: Ensure the availability of necessary resources, such as personal protective equipment (PPE), backup hardware, and necessary hard copies of documents.
