- As the shower pump builds pressure, the air in the system needs to be removed.
- This can be accomplished by gently turning the shower on by pulling
- Actuator Handle approximately 1/3 until only water comes out
- If the Shower Pump cycles or chirps, then there is still air in the system. Simply turn the shower on and off quickly a couple times to remove excess air.
- After all air is removed, the pump will shut off and be in standby mode.
- Note: The pump may cycle or chirp at times after it is in the standby mode and this is normal, but excessive cycling or chirping of the pump will damage it.
- With the system in standby mode the alarm breaker can now be turned on.
- System will now sound an alarm when the shower or eyewash is used.
- The alarm should be tested at this time.
- Breaker Box #2 is only used in cold conditions. Please see Cold Weather Ready below.
- 50 AMP shore power
- Keep Heat turned on at all times on A/C Unit with Heat Strip in First Aid side of Trailer.
- Water Heater and recirculation pump breaker can be turned on.
- Recirculation pump circulates the fresh water into the heater.
- Water Heater will warm the water at a tepid temperature of 60 to 100 degrees.
- The heater has its own:
- On/Off Toggle Switch
- Indicator Light
- Pressure switch - allows the heater to only work when water is present.
- Thermostat - for winter temperatures, is set from the factory at approximately 80 degrees but can be adjusted to the desired temperature.
Note: This heating unit will warm the water approximately 10 degrees per hour of
run time until the desired temperature is reached, it will then maintain that
temperature until water is needed.
Draining System
- Use Fresh Water ONLY
- With the unit in standby mode, open the blue lever valve.
- Attach the Green Drain Water Hose (optional) to the Fresh Water Drain
- Valve on the passenger side of the unit.
- Place open end of Green Drain Water Hose in an acceptable drain or
- disposal.
- Open the Fresh Water Drain Valve on the passenger side of the unit.
- The Pump will start and will remove most of the fresh water.
- When the water stops running from the Fresh Water Valve, turn off Shower Pump breaker in Breaker Box #1.
- Turn Shower and Eyewash on, this allows air into the system and will remove most of the remaining excess water.
- Remove large Plug on Blue Shower Pump until all water is removed. The Plug is located on the Pump head close to the floor.
- Close the 1 ½“Ball Valve that connects the Blue Shower Pump to the Fresh Water Tank.
- Remove the 1 ½“Water Pipe at the two unions and empty, leaving the pipe off.
- Using the Water Blowout Valve (it looks like a Tire Valve), connect to the Fresh Water Drain and use Compressed Air to remove the remaining water in the system.
- Replace the 1 ½” Water Pipe.
- Close all Valves.
- Replace Plug on Blue Shower Pump.
- All water in the Discharge Line is required to be removed.
- Remove Plug from bottom of Discharge Pump Cover under the Trailer.
- Discharge Pump is located under the passenger side near the Rear Axle.
- The Plug is covered by tape and insulation.
- The Plug should be re-taped after draining.
Contaminated Water
- No electric power is needed to drain the contaminated water.
- Open yellow lever valve.
- Open contaminated water gate valve on the passenger side of the unit.
Cold Weather Ready
- In order to prevent freezing.
- Keep Heat turned on at all times on A/C Unit with Heat Strip in First Aid side of Trailer.
- The First Aid Trailer is equipped with a heating element called Heat Tape.
- The Heat Tape automatically warms the water line to the shower head.
- The Heat Tape is controlled by a breaker in Breaker Box #1.
- In standby mode, a light is on inside of gray box under breaker box #1.
- This light indicates that heat tape is working.
- There is a Wall Heating Unit in Control Room of Trailer, right next to the
- Breaker Boxes, and this unit should be on at all times during freezing temperatures.
- The Wall Heating Unit is controlled by a breaker in Breaker Box #2.
Maintenance
- Check tires, lights, and reflectors before each use
