Description

Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Rigged & Ready Training

Course Overview:

The Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Rigged & Ready Certification Training is an essential program designed for workers who may be exposed to hydrogen sulfide in various industrial environments, particularly in oil and gas, wastewater treatment, and chemical manufacturing.

This course provides participants with critical knowledge about the properties, hazards, and safety measures associated with H2S, ensuring they can work safely in H2S environments and respond effectively in emergency situations.

Students gain knowledge through lectures, group discussions, hands-on exercises, equipment demonstrations and student participation with H2S technology.

Participants will be evaluated on their knowledge, skills and abilities during the learning seminar and will complete a final examination.

Course Objectives:

  • Understand regulatory requirements related to H2S exposure and safety practices and the role and responsibilities of Designated Rescuers in emergency H2S situations.
  • Teach the properties, characteristics, and dangers of hydrogen sulfide, including its physical and chemical properties, health effects and odor.
  • Understand
  • Identify potential sources and conditions that may lead to H2S exposure in the workplace and the various types of hazardous environments and the risks associated with rescue operations.
  • Learn the proper use and limitations of personal protective equipment (PPE) for H2S protection, with emphasis on types of respirators and the significance of medical evaluations and respirator fit testing.
  • Familiarize participants with contingency and emergency action plans (EPA), emergency response procedures, including evacuation plans, first aid measures and techniques, and post exposure evaluation.
  • Learn the fundamentals of rescue planning and coordination with emergency services.
  • Master the use of rescue equipment, including breathing apparatuses, harnesses, ropes, and retrieval devices.
  • Develop effective communication strategies for coordinating H2S rescues.
  • Train affected employees by practicing making permit space rescues with assigned duties and by means of simulated rescue operations in which they remove a Rescue Randy manikin from actual permit spaces or from representative permit spaces.
  • Study Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH) Environments.
  • Develop skills in using gas detection and monitoring equipment to identify H2S hazards, including personal, portable, and fixed monitors and detectors..
  • Hands-On Training with Gas Detection Single Gas and Multi-Gas Monitors.

Included in this Course:

  • Gas Detection Training.
  • Respiratory Protection Training with Medical Evaluation and Respiratory Fit Testing.
  • Practical Respiratory Protection Training by utilizing equipment such as Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), Supplied Air Respirators (SAR), Emergency Escape Breathing Apparatus (EEBA) and more.
  • H2S Certification Training.
  • Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training is included in this course.

Target Audience:

Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Rigged & Ready is a Certification Course designed for Students who have the potential to be exposed to H2S in an environment with concentrations greater than the Occupational Exposure Limit and employees who are identified by the employer as a Designated Rescuer for emergency situations where they will be responsible for recovery and providing resuscitation and first aid to H2S victims.

This is an instructor-led in person course in a classroom setting that is ideal for entry level employees, supervisors, and safety personnel working in industries where H2S exposure is a high risk and activating contingency plans is likely.

Essential workers from oil and gas, petroleum, municipalities, utilities, research and development laboratories, transportation, paper/pulp/food processing industries, construction, chemical manufacturing companies, government regulatory entities, and environmental services.

Duration:

The training is a one day course and includes a combination of classroom instruction with powerpoint, lecture, group tabletop exercise, student participation, videos and emphasis on practical, hands-on exercises.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the course, Students will receive a H2S Rigged & Ready Certification, that contains each employee's name, the signature of the Trainer, and the dates of Training, valid for one year.

H2S Rigged & Ready Certification includes H2S Certification, First Aid CPR Certification, Designated Rescuer Training, Gas Detection Training, and Respiratory Protection Certification with Medical Evaluation and Respirator Fit Test.

The certificate of completion is available for review by employees and their authorized representatives with the students Training Passport.

Training Passport is a digital Training history of a person's Training Records.

This course meets the requirements of the ANSI/ASSE Z390.1-2017 Accepted Practices for Hydrogen Sulfide Training and 1910.134 Respiratory Protection.

Prerequisites:

No prior experience is required, but a training on OSHA Hazard Communication and a basic understanding of workplace safety is recommended.

H2S Rigged & Ready Training: H2S Certification plus Designated Rescuer to Ensure Total Safety in Hydrogen Sulfide Environments

Enroll in this course to enhance your knowledge and skills for safely working in environments where hydrogen sulfide is present or in excess of the recommended occupational exposure limit and to gain confidence in emergency situations where rescue is required.
