Description

Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Certification Training

Course Overview:

The Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Certification Training is an essential program designed for workers who may be exposed to hydrogen sulfide in various industrial environments, particularly in oil and gas, wastewater treatment, and chemical manufacturing.

This course provides participants with critical knowledge about the properties, hazards, and safety measures associated with H2S, ensuring they can work safely and respond effectively in emergency situations.

Students gain knowledge through lectures, group discussions, hands-on exercises, equipment demonstrations and student participation with H2S technology.

Participants will be evaluated on their knowledge, skills and abilities during the learning seminar and will complete a final examination.

Course Objectives:

  • Understand the properties, characteristics, and dangers of hydrogen sulfide, including its physical and chemical properties, health effects and odor.
  • Identify potential sources and conditions that may lead to H2S exposure in the workplace.
  • Learn the proper use and limitations of personal protective equipment (PPE) for H2S protection, with emphasis on types of respirators and the significance of medical evaluations and respirator fit testing.
  • Develop skills in using detection and monitoring equipment to identify H2S hazards, including personal, portable, and fixed monitors and detectors..
  • Familiarize participants with contingency and emergency action plans (EPA), emergency response procedures, including evacuation plans and first aid measures.
  • Understand regulatory requirements related to H2S exposure and safety practices.
  • Students will complete this course and have the confidence to work in potentially hazardous H2S environments
  • Study rescue, first aid techniques, and post exposure evaluation.

Target Audience:

Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Passport is a Certification Course designed for Students who have the potential to be exposed to H2S in an environment with concentrations greater than the Occupational Exposure Limit.

This is an instructor-led in person course in a classroom setting that is ideal for entry level employees, supervisors, and safety personnel working in industries where H2S exposure is a risk.

Essential workers from oil and gas, petroleum, municipalities, utilities, research and development laboratories, transportation, paper/pulp/food processing industries, construction, chemical manufacturing companies, government regulatory entities, and environmental services.

Duration:

The training typically lasts 3-4 hours and includes a combination of classroom instruction with powerpoint, lecture, group tabletop exercise, student participation, videos and practical, hands-on exercises.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the course, Students will receive a H2S Certification, that contains each employee's name, the signature of the Trainer, and the dates of Training, valid for one year.

The certificate of completion is available for review by employees and their authorized representatives with the students Training Passport.

Training Passport is a digital Training history of a person's Training Records.

This course meets the requirements of the ANSI/ASSE Z390.1-2017 Accepted Practices for Hydrogen Sulfide Training.

Prerequisites:

No prior experience is required, but a training on OSHA Hazard Communication and a basic understanding of workplace safety is recommended.
